Computer Support for Cooperative Work: An appraisal and critique

Abstract

The field of computer support for cooperative work (CSCW) has recently been the subject of much discussion. This paper provides some background on the newly emerging field and places it in the context of other developments. We then argue that we must pay greater attention to the social and political aspects of any project in this area. This implies a need for cross-disciplinary research activity in both design and evaluation of CSCW projects.
